Do you remember the Tina Turner song, What’s Love Got To Do With It?

The chorus goes like this:

What's love got to do, got to do with it

What's love but a second hand emotion

What's love got to do, got to do with it

Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken

Well, lately, I’ve kinda wondered the same thing. Sometimes I feel like I love/care about others too much. Is that possible?

I mean…

Is it wrong to see an elderly person struggling while their children/grandchildren completely ignore them or take advantage of them and feel compassion for them and want to do something, ANYTHING, just to see them smile…even if it’s for just a moment?

Is it weird to see a child that you know isn’t being treated properly or taken care of and just want to give them a hug and tell them how beautiful & wonderful they are?

Is it such a bad thing to see a family member who has lost their sense of self-worth, lost their self-confidence and want to do something to give them a boost and remind them how much they mean to you?

Is it terrible to look at a person and smile, maybe even say ‘hello’?

Am I weird or is there something wrong with me because I still want to believe the best in people, that I want people to know that they are loved, that they ARE important, that they ARE significant, that their very existences DOES matter?

I think LOVE has EVERYTHING to do with it!

Without love, there is no compassion, there is no mercy, there is no grace, there is no forgiveness, there is no second or third chances, there is NO HOPE!

Though sometimes I feel my heart may break or that it may be severely wounded, I don’t ever want to stop caring & loving for my fellow human beings. We are here for but a season…be who God intended you to be…be kind, be caring, be loving…it can never be too much!
